About P. Zachary

P. Zachary Stewart built a legal path that spans two states and a mix of solo and firm practice. He combines courtroom experience and civil practice. Colleagues describe him as methodical; clients find him direct.

He completed undergraduate studies at West Virginia University, earning a B.A. in Political Science in 2007. He then attended Michigan State University College of Law and received his J.D. in 2010. Those years shaped his approach to legal research and client counseling, grounding him in both theory and practical advocacy.

Stewart began his independent practice in 2013 when he opened the Law Office of P. Zachary Stewart, PLLC. He handled a range of matters and developed a caseload that included civil disputes and procedural litigation. Over nearly a decade of solo practice he managed client intake, discovery, trial preparation and appearances. The experience of running a small practice gave him familiarity with every part of a case file, from pleadings to post-trial filings.

In 2022 he joined Carey & Stewart, PLLC as a partner. The move brought him into a different firm structure while allowing him to continue handling contested matters. As a partner he shares responsibility for case strategy and mentoring junior attorneys. He also remains involved in the day-to-day tasks that prepare a case for hearings and trial.

Stewart is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He maintains memberships in the American Bar Association, the West Virginia Bar Association and the Hancock County Bar Association. Those memberships keep him engaged with changes in procedural rules and state-level practice developments. They also provide forums for continuing legal education and peer discussion.

Throughout his career he has balanced litigation and client counseling. He often appears in state courts and handles pretrial motion practice, discovery disputes and settlement negotiations. His practice includes handling procedural aspects of civil litigation and representing clients through trial where required. He approaches each matter by identifying practical steps that advance a client’s position and by preparing the record for effective advocacy.

He lives and works in the region served by his licensure and maintains an active caseload at Carey & Stewart, PLLC. He continues to accept matters in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia and concentrates his current practice on civil litigation and related procedural work.
