About Ossai
Ossai Miazad earned his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in 2004. He moved into labor and employment work early in his career and has remained in that field since. His legal education gave him grounding in both litigation and statutory interpretation, which he uses in employment disputes and regulatory matters.
He is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia. Over the years he has built a practice that sits at the intersection of workplace law and public policy. His professional activity extends beyond client representation. He participates in professional groups that shape labor and employment law practice and policy.
Within the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law, he serves as Co-chair of the Subcommittee on USERRA in the Fair Labor Standards Legislation Committee. That role places him in the middle of discussions about veterans’ employment protections and wage-and-hour legislation. He also maintains membership in the broader ABA labor and employment section. His professional affiliations include the National Employment Law Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association’s New York affiliate. He is a member of the New York City Bar Association and sits on its Committee on Civil Rights.
Miazad’s work commonly addresses wage-and-hour claims, statutory employment protections, and issues that arise when federal law and local labor rules collide. He handles litigation and administrative matters. He prepares claims, briefs, and defenses in federal and state forums. His USERRA role means he regularly engages with cases that involve the rights of service members and veterans in the workplace.
Peers and colleagues see him as someone who values detailed legal analysis. He brings a practical approach to complex statutory schemes. That shows in committee work, where careful drafting and attention to legislative language are routine. He uses committee service to stay current on change and to contribute to conversations about how laws affect workers and employers.
Miazad balances practice responsibilities with active involvement in professional groups. He continues to take part in committee work at the ABA and in local bar associations. He is admitted in New York and the District of Columbia and currently concentrates his practice on labor and employment law matters, including wage-and-hour claims and veterans’ employment issues under USERRA.
