About Osman
Osman Lopez built his legal foundation at two Florida schools. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Florida in 2012 and completed his J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law in 2016. While in law school he spent a year as a fellow in the Children and Youth Law Clinic, representing young people and working on issues that intersect family law and child welfare.
After law school, Lopez moved directly into family law practice. He joined a Family Law Office as an associate in 2016. The work was hands‑on from the start. He handled case preparation, client intake, and appearances in family court under the supervision of more senior attorneys.
Two years later he took on greater responsibility. In 2018 he became Family Law Director at the same office. In that role he oversaw case strategy and managed aspects of litigation for complex custody and support matters. He also handled settlement negotiations and coordinated with experts when custody evaluations or financial analyses were needed.
In 2020 he became managing partner of The Law Offices of Osman Lopez, P.A. That move formalized a practice centered on family law issues. Lopez’s caseload has included divorce proceedings, custody disputes, child support calculations, and protective order matters. He regularly appears in Florida family courts and handles both negotiated resolutions and contested hearings.
Colleagues describe his courtroom work as steady and pragmatic. He prepares clients for hearings and focuses on presenting clear documentary and testimonial evidence. Outside the courtroom he emphasizes client communication. He aims to set expectations early and to map out practical next steps for each case. Those practices guide how he approaches settlements as well as trial preparation.
Lopez’s background in the Children and Youth Law Clinic continues to inform his work. Cases that touch on child welfare, guardianship issues, or the intersection of domestic concerns and public services draw on that earlier experience. He is licensed to practice in Florida and has built a practice that centers on the legal needs families bring to court.
