About Omid John
Omid John Afati is an attorney who built a steady path from law school to running his own practice. He attended California Western School of Law beginning in 2012 and earned his J.D. in 2015. Those years in San Diego shaped his early approach to legal work and professional involvement.
After law school Afati worked as an associate attorney at Andrew Rauch, APC. He spent time there gaining courtroom exposure and handling client matters under seasoned supervision. In 2019 he left to start his own firm, founding Afati Law Firm. The decision to open his own office came after several years practicing within an established boutique firm environment.
Afati has taken on leadership roles outside the office. He has served as a director of the Iranian American Bar Association, San Diego chapter since 2017. That local role preceded his election as a director of the National Iranian American Bar Association in 2019. He maintains current memberships in both organizations and has been active in their programming and governance.
Licensed to practice in California, Afati has built a practice that operates from his firm in the state. His background combines private-firm experience and nonprofit bar leadership. Those two tracks have informed how he manages client relations, office operations and community outreach.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and practical in dealing with casework. He has handled a range of matters while building the administrative and supervisory skills required to run a small firm. Outside the office he remains involved in professional networks that connect lawyers of Iranian heritage across the region and the country.
Today Afati practices from Afati Law Firm. He maintains an active role in the Iranian American legal community while running his own office and representing clients in California. His current practice focuses on representing clients in California.
