About Olivia
Olivia Wotman earned her J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2017 after completing a B.A. in psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2013. During law school she played an active role on the Gonzaga Journal of International Law, serving as an associate editor and later as symposium editor. She also represented her school in the Washington State Bar Association’s Juvenile Law Section and led the Student Organization of Victims Advocacy (SOVA) as president. Those roles gave her early exposure to publishing, event organization and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations.
Her career began with positions that emphasized research and hands-on legal work. In 2014 she worked as a resource developer for the Tri-Counties Regional Center. She interned with the Unemployment Law Project in 2015. In 2016 she served as a law clerk at Piskel Yahne Kovarik, PLLC, a judicial extern at the District Court of Spokane County, and a reference desk assistant at Chastek Library. She also worked as a research assistant at Gonzaga’s law school. In 2017, the year she graduated, she took on multiple roles: an associate lawyer with the Public Safety Labor Group and an independent contractor for Yturbide Law, PC. Two years later she worked as a contract lawyer for Angeli Law Group.
Those positions exposed her to a range of matters, from labor and public-safety issues to administrative and juvenile cases. Her time in court and in clinics informed a practice that touches on family law, juvenile matters and aspects of employment and administrative law. She has also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Spokane County Juvenile Court, a certification that involved working directly with courts and youth in dependency and delinquency proceedings.
Colleagues and supervisors over the years have relied on her research experience and editorial background when preparing briefs and organizing case strategy. Her legal writing and procedural experience come from stints in both private practice and public-interest settings. She has moved between roles that require detailed legal analysis and roles that demand client contact and courtroom presence.
Wotman is licensed to practice in Oregon and Washington. She currently practices at Zimmer Family Law. Her current work emphasizes family law and related juvenile matters across Oregon and Washington.
