About Oleg
Oleg Fastovsky began his academic path in the humanities and moved steadily toward the law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in English and Psychology from Towson University in 1995, then stayed at Towson to complete a Master of Science in Professional Writing in 1999. He returned to school several years later and received his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2008.
His early legal experience mixed clerking and courtroom preparation. In 2007 he worked as a law clerk at Spence and Buckler, P.C., and the next year served as an appellate clerk to the Honorable Arrie W. Davis at the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. That appellate clerkship gave him direct exposure to briefing, opinion drafting, and the cadence of appeals work.
After law school he spent time in private practice as an associate for Craig M. Kadish, Chartered, beginning in 2009. He became a partner in 2013 when the firm operated as Kadish, Forster & Fastovsky, LLC. He later took a position at the Maryland Criminal Defense Group in 2016, where he handled trial-level matters and pretrial litigation. In 2023 he joined The Killian Law Group, LLC as a partner. Along the way he has held roles that required both courtroom advocacy and appellate writing.
Fastovsky is admitted to practice before the Maryland courts and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. That combination has shaped the kinds of matters he accepts. He has worked on criminal defense cases at the trial level and taken appeals through written briefs and argument. His time in an appellate clerk’s office informs how he approaches issue preservation and brief composition.
Colleagues describe him as someone who blends practical case preparation with a comfort for appellate procedure. He has handled preliminary hearings, motions practice, and the drafting of appellate briefs. He also has experience mentoring younger lawyers on courtroom strategy and client communications, based on his years as a partner in small and mid-sized firms.
He maintains an office in Maryland and continues to represent clients in both trial and appellate settings. He is a partner at The Killian Law Group, LLC and practices criminal defense and appellate litigation.
