About Norman E Douglas
Norman E Douglas Jr built a path to law from a mix of technical training and public safety studies. He earned an A.A.S. in Police Science in 1996, followed by a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Friends University in 2000. He completed his J.D. at Washburn University School of Law in 2004. Those early degrees shaped his approach to practice—methodical and attentive to detail.
He began his legal career soon after law school and spent time in litigation roles that exposed him to injury and consumer issues. In 2007 he joined King, Brennan & Albin LLC, doing business as the Accident Recovery Team, as a partner. That period included handling cases where procedural rigor and client communication were critical. He left that position and later founded his own office.
In 2018 Douglas opened Kansas Bankruptcy Center and took on the role of owner. The move marked a clear shift toward consumer bankruptcy practice. He is admitted to practice in Kansas and before the Tenth Circuit. Over the years he has maintained active memberships in professional organizations that align with bankruptcy and general civil practice. He has been a member of the Kansas Bar Association and the American Bar Association since 2007. He joined the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers and the American Bankruptcy Institute in 2018 and continues with both. Earlier in his career he belonged to the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice; those memberships ran through 2018.
Clients and colleagues describe his approach as straightforward. He tends to emphasize practical options and clear communication. Court filings, hearings and case strategy are handled with an eye toward predictable process and adherence to procedural rules. He has worked in consumer bankruptcy matters since establishing his firm, and his day-to-day practice centers on guiding individuals through chapters of bankruptcy, and advising on related financial relief mechanisms.
Outside the office Douglas’s educational background in computer information systems and police science informs how he organizes case files and approaches investigatory details. That combination of technical and legal training is apparent in the way he prepares for hearings and manages client intake. He continues to operate Kansas Bankruptcy Center where his practice is focused on consumer bankruptcy representation and related financial relief matters.
