Norman Alan Chernin is a seasoned real estate attorney based in Van Nuys, California. A member of the State Bar of California since 1971, he has built a robust career focused on various facets of real property law. His expertise encompasses acquisitions, sales, land use, construction, and mortgage financing. With over five decades of experience, Mr. Chernin has established himself as a trusted advisor in the real estate sector. Mr. Chernin earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He furthered his education by obtaining his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

During his time at Loyola, he was elected to the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society, recognizing his academic achievements and commitment to legal ethics. Additionally, he won the prestigious Scott Moot Court competition, showcasing his skills in legal argumentation and advocacy. Throughout his career, Mr. Chernin has held significant positions in the real estate industry. For over 20 years, he served as Regional Counsel for The Prudential Realty Group, the real estate investment division of The Prudential Insurance Company of America. His role involved overseeing legal matters related to real estate transactions and investments. He also held the position of Counsel for Hilton Hotels Corporation, where he provided legal guidance on various hotel-related transactions.

Furthermore, Mr. Chernin was Special Title Counsel for the Los Angeles office of the National Commercial Services Division of First American Title Insurance Company. In addition to these prominent roles, Mr. Chernin worked as Underwriting Counsel for the Fidelity family of title companies, including Fidelity Title, Chicago Title, Commonwealth Land Title, Ticor Title, and Novare Title and Escrow Services. In these capacities, he underwrote title insurance coverage for thousands of commercial transactions. His work spanned diverse properties, including office and industrial buildings, hotels, shopping centers, ski resorts, and large tracts of land. He also provided counsel to escrow officers managing complex transactions involving defeasances, tax credit financing, and bond indentures. Beyond his professional practice, Mr.

Chernin has remained actively involved in legal associations. He is a member of the Real Property Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, where he served as Chair of the Section’s Executive Committee.
