About Norma McCord
Norma McCord Wells earned her J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2001. She entered the legal field after law school and built a practice that intersects law, health care and older-adult issues. Her educational background gave her a foundation in both law and the procedural demands of court practice.
She began her post-law school practice as an attorney at Hinson & Hinson, P.C., in 2004. A year later she started her own firm, Norma A. McCord, LLC, taking on cases and clients under her own name. Over time her practice arrangements evolved and she is now associated with Turning Point Legal, PC. Her career path shows a movement from associate roles into private practice and firm membership.
Wells is licensed to practice in Alabama and in federal fora. Her admissions include the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and the U.S. Tax Court. That mix of state and federal credentials supports work that sometimes touches on tax and probate questions alongside traditional state-court practice.
Before turning fully to law she qualified as a Certified Public Accountant. That certification is currently inactive, but it informs the way she handles financial aspects of client matters. The combination of legal and accounting training is often useful in estates, guardianships and transactions that require careful financial review.
Her professional associations reflect sustained involvement in elder law, family law and collaborative practice. She has been a member of the Alabama Bar Association since 2005, active across the Family Law, Elder Law and Real Estate & Probate Sections. She joined the Marshall County Bar Association in 2005 and served as its vice president from 2009 to 2010. National and specialty memberships include ElderCounsel (since 2016) and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (since 2019). She also belongs to the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, joining that group in 2011.
Community and nonprofit work is part of her public profile. Wells has held board roles with local hospice and guardianship organizations for more than a decade. She has been president of the Palliative and Supportive Care Alliance at Sheperd s Cove Hospice since 2014, and she serves on boards for the Marshall County Guardianship Program and Hospice of Marshall County. Earlier, she served on the board of the Marshall County Family and Visitation Center from 2008 to 2011.
She focuses her practice on elder law, estate planning and related matters.
