About Norma Levine
Norma Levine Trusch is a seasoned family law attorney based in Houston, Texas, with over four decades of experience. A member of the State Bar of Texas since 1977, she has dedicated her career to various aspects of family law. Her practice encompasses many matters, including divorce, child custody, and adoption. Trusch is experienced in collaborative law, contested divorce, military divorce, and property division — Additionally, she addresses issues related to same-sex divorce, spousal support, and prenuptial agreements. Her comprehensive approach also includes guardianship, paternity, child support, and restraining orders. Trusch earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from South Texas College of Law in 1977.
Before that, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) from the University of Oklahoma. In 1983, she achieved certification as a specialist in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. This certification shows her expertise and commitment to the field. In 1990, she was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a prestigious recognition that highlights her contributions to family law. Throughout her career, Trusch has been dedicated to advancing family law practice. She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at South Texas College of Law, where she taught courses in Collaborative Law and Texas Marital Property Law.
Her role as an educator supports her shaping the next generation of family law practitioners. Furthermore, Trusch has been a frequent lecturer on family law topics both in Texas and nationwide, sharing her insights and expertise with a broader audience. In addition to her teaching and speaking roles, Trusch has actively engaged in pro bono work. She co-created a program with Houston Volunteer Lawyers aimed at training staff attorneys and pro bono volunteers to handle family cases collaboratively. Trusch's contributions to the legal community have been recognized with several awards — In 1996, she received the David A. Gibson Award for Professionalism from Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists. Her dedication to providing pro bono legal services to the working poor earned her a feature in the Texas Bar Journal’s “Profiles in Service” in January 1999.
