About Nima
Nima Nayebi earned his J.D. from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 2011, after completing a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations at California State University, San Francisco in 2008. His legal education was followed immediately by a graduate fellowship that placed him in public-interest legal work and set the stage for a career that has moved between appellate chambers, law firms, and the classroom.
Early in his career he served as a staff lawyer at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 2012. That position exposed him to appellate procedure and the mechanics of high-volume federal appellate dockets. He later joined private practice and, in 2017, worked as a litigation associate at Leone and Alberts, where he handled litigation matters across several stages of case development.
In the same year he also took up a role in legal education as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University School of Law. Colleagues and students recall him bringing practical courtroom and appellate perspectives into the classroom. That mix of teaching and practice has been a recurring feature of his career.
Nayebi moved into firm leadership in 2022 when he became a partner at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP. As a partner he manages teams on complex matters and handles client-facing responsibilities. His time in appellate chambers, combined with years in firm practice, informs how he approaches case strategy and briefing.
He is admitted to practice in California and appears in federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He also maintains memberships tied to the U.S. District Courts in the Central and Eastern Districts of California. Those admissions allow him to operate across trial and appellate levels in state and federal systems.
Throughout his career Nayebi has moved between public service, teaching and private practice. He has used his appellate background to support complex litigation and to mentor junior attorneys and students. He continues to split his time between firm work and occasional academic engagements. He practices at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani LLP, handling litigation in federal and state courts.
