About Nils P.
Nils P. Wyosnick built his legal foundation through a mix of Midwestern schools and early public service. He began undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa before transferring in 2001 and completed a B.S. in political science at Edgewood College. He earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in 2011.
His career began in the public sector. In 2011 he joined the Cook County State's Lawyer's Office as an assistant state's lawyer. That early courtroom work exposed him to heavy caseloads and the practice of criminal law in a busy urban setting. In 2014 he shifted to private practice as an associate at The Davis Law Group, P.C., where he handled a range of criminal matters and learned the business side of running a law practice.
Wyosnick started his own firm in 2017 as managing lawyer of Wyosnick Legal, L.L.C. Running a small practice gave him responsibility for case intake, trial preparation and client counseling. He served clients directly and supervised the day-to-day operations of the office. In 2022 he joined Murphy Desmond S.C. as a partner, returning to a larger firm environment and expanding the scope of matters he handles.
He is admitted to practice in both Wisconsin and Illinois. In Wisconsin he serves as a Certified Assigned Counsel for felonies and misdemeanors under the State Public Defender Assigned Counsel Division. That certification authorizes him to accept court appointments in serious criminal cases and reflects ongoing engagement with the assigned-counsel system.
Wyosnick belongs to local and statewide bar groups that connect him to peers and continuing legal education. He is a member of the Dane County Bar Association and the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those memberships reflect enduring ties to the criminal defense community in Wisconsin.
His work history ties public-sector trial experience to private-practice responsibilities. He has handled appointed felony and misdemeanor cases, defended privately retained matters and led a small firm before becoming a partner at a regional firm. The combination gives him familiarity with courtroom advocacy, client management and the procedural demands of criminal cases.
He lives and practices in the Midwest and divides his time between matters in Illinois and Wisconsin. He currently practices at Murphy Desmond S.C., where he focuses on criminal defense and court-appointed felony and misdemeanor work.
