About Nikoo
Nikoo Berenji built her academic foundation on the West Coast and in New York. She earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2002, then pursued a master’s degree at New York University, completing an M.A. in 2004. She returned to California for law school and received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2007.
After law school she moved into a mix of practice and scholarship. Today she serves as Of Counsel at Berenji & Associates, a firm that maintains offices in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. Her role there ties together client work and ongoing involvement in legal education and association leadership. She has remained active in the Los Angeles legal community while handling matters through the firm’s two local offices.
Academia has been a steady thread in her career. She lectures at USC Law School and at UCLA Law School, teaching law students and contributing to classroom discussions. At Berkeley Law she served as an Articles Editor for the Berkeley Journal of International Law and was the recipient of the K. Yee Fellowship. Those roles reflect a continuing engagement with legal scholarship alongside practice.
Her association work shows a pattern of organizational leadership. She has served as president and former conference chair of the Pacific Southwest Academy of Legal Studies in Business. She is a past president and past director of the Iranian American Bar Association. Outside the bar, she has been involved in community projects, including work with the All Saints Church Foster Care Project where she held a chair role and served on the steering committee.
Berenji’s professional interests are evident in the mix of her activities. Scholarly work, association leadership, and teaching all intersect around business law and aspects of international law. She brings that background into client matters and into the programs she helps organize and lead. Colleagues and students see her as someone who moves between practice and education, translating academic discussion into practical advice.
She continues to combine practice and teaching at Berenji & Associates. Based in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, she handles matters that draw on her business law and international law experience and continues to lecture and lead within several legal organizations. Her current practice concentrates on corporate and cross-border matters.
