About Nikolas Richard
Nikolas Richard Pilcher earned his law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law, completing the J.D. program in 2020. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Bradley University, awarded in 2017. Those classroom years were followed quickly by placements that placed him inside courtrooms and prosecutor’s offices. He moved from study to practice in a deliberate, steady way.
After law school, Pilcher began accumulating practical experience through a series of public-sector internships and clerkships. In 2019 he served as a licensed 7:11 intern in the Jackson County State’s Lawyer’s Office. The next year he worked as a licensed legal intern at the United States Lawyer’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa and also spent time as a legal clerk at Parmenter Law Office. Those roles exposed him to prosecution and federal practice and gave him repeated chances to draft filings, conduct legal research, and assist in courtroom preparation.
In 2021 he joined The Law Offices of Parmenter, Pilcher, & Pilcher as a partner. That position came after his internships and clerkship work and marked a shift into sustained client representation. At the firm he participates in case strategy, client meetings, and trial preparation. He has responsibility for managing matters from initial intake through disposition. Colleagues describe him as methodical during litigation and attentive in client consultations.
Pilcher is a member of the Iowa State Bar. His professional activity has centered in Iowa, where he has combined public office experience and private practice. He has worked on both prosecution-oriented tasks and defense-related assignments during his early career, which has given him experience on both sides of the courtroom aisle. That background informs how he evaluates cases and prepares for hearings.
Outside of court filings and hearings, Pilcher’s path has included intensive legal research and frequent drafting of motions and briefs. He spent formative months embedded in federal practice at the Southern District of Iowa office, where he assisted career prosecutors and federal staff. Earlier, at the county level, he confronted the pace of local courts and client-facing responsibilities.
Today he serves as a partner at The Law Offices of Parmenter, Pilcher, & Pilcher and practices law in Iowa. He handles casework at the firm and continues to represent clients in matters arising in state and federal venues.
