About Nikki
Nikki Pope earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2004 after a circuitous path through business and liberal arts studies. She holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management (1986), where she studied marketing and management policy, and a B.A. in economics from Carleton College (1980). Those academic stops underline a blend of business training and legal education that informs her approach.
Her early career combined graduate business study and legal training. After law school she joined Cooley Godward Kronish LLP as an associate. At the firm she worked on matters that drew on both her legal education and her earlier management studies. The role at Cooley marked her entry into private practice and provided a platform for courtroom procedures, client counseling and firm-based litigation practice.
Pope is admitted to practice in California and is also admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court. That dual admission reflects a career that spans state practice and federal-level credentials. Her background in business and law allows her to translate complex financial or organizational issues into legal strategies that a judge or opposing counsel can follow.
Colleagues describe her as steady under pressure and prepared when cases move quickly. She approaches a file by mapping the legal issues, identifying key factual threads and setting priorities for discovery and motion practice. Those habits reflect training from two different professional schools: the analytical bent of a liberal arts education, and the structured decision-making taught in business school.
Outside client matters, she has maintained ties to professional circles and legal communities. She has participated in association activities during her career and keeps a presence in the professional networks that support litigation and transactional work. That engagement has kept her abreast of changing rules and procedural developments in California courts and federal practice.
Today she continues as an associate at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, operating within California and holding admission to the highest federal forum. Her current practice focuses on legal work based in California, and she is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.
