About Nicole
Nicole Stednitz completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles and earned her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law. She trained in the classroom and the clinic. Those settings shaped an early interest in family law and alternative dispute resolution.
She is admitted to practice in California and has built a practice centered in the South Bay. Early work included representation in contested family court matters. Over time she added collaborative practice to the toolbox she brings to family law problems.
Her involvement in collaborative law is reflected in her association memberships. She has been listed as a Collaborative Lawyer with A Better Divorce since 2018. In 2019 she joined the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association as a Collaborative Lawyer. In 2020 she took on a leadership role in the South Bay Bar Association and serves as Family Law Chair there. Those roles have placed her in frequent contact with other attorneys, mental health professionals and financial specialists who participate in negotiated resolutions.
Collegial problem solving is a recurring theme in her work. In collaborative settings she works with clients to identify priorities and map out agreements that can avoid prolonged litigation. In adversarial matters she has handled contested issues, including custody and property disputes, and taken those matters through court as needed. She is known among peers for steady preparation and for managing the practical details of a case from start to finish.
Stednitz practices from an office in Torrance at Torrance Family Law, APC. In that setting she handles intake, case strategy and court filings. She also meets with other professionals when cases benefit from a team approach. Her practice serves clients across the Los Angeles area, particularly those seeking either negotiated settlements or representation in contested family court proceedings.
She continues to serve as Family Law Chair of the South Bay Bar Association and remains active in collaborative-law organizations. She handles divorce, child custody, spousal and child support, and collaborative divorce matters in California.
