About Nicole
Nicole Ing earned her J.D. from California Western School of Law in 2013. She completed her legal education in San Diego, where she began building the practical skills that would shape her career. Her time in law school included classroom work and practical training that prepared her for trial practice and courtroom procedure.
After law school she joined the San Diego Office of the Public Defender. There she has represented clients charged with a range of criminal offenses in state courts. Her work at the public defender’s office involves courtroom appearances, client interviews, pretrial investigation and collaboration with investigators and social service providers to develop defense strategies.
Alongside her public defense work, she has taught as an adjunct professor at San Francisco Law School. In that role she has worked with law students on practical legal skills and classroom instruction. Students remember her for clear explanations and an emphasis on the realities of courtroom practice.
Her practice reflects the demands of public defense. Courtroom preparation and an ability to respond as cases change are routine elements of her work. She handles matters at various stages, from arraignment through trial, and she often addresses issues that require quick legal research and immediate tactical decisions. Colleagues describe her as methodical in trial preparation and attentive to client concerns.
Licensed to practice in California, she remains based in San Diego and continues at the San Diego Office of the Public Defender. She balances daily caseload responsibilities with teaching and mentoring newer attorneys and students. Her current practice centers on defending people accused of crimes in California courts.
