About Nicholas

Nicholas White took an early interest in the tensions between individual rights and government power. He pursued that interest at Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law, where he earned his J.D. in 1993 and concentrated his studies in criminal law and constitutional law. His legal education set the tone for a career spent largely in criminal defense and constitutional litigation.

He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit, and in Georgia courts. Those admissions reflect work that reaches beyond trial-level disputes. They also allow him to handle appellate and federal matters when cases require review at higher levels of the judiciary.

White’s peers have involved him in professional leadership. In 2017 he served on the executive committee of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. That role put him in the mix on policy discussions and member services aimed at improving defense practice across the state. He also maintains memberships in other professional organizations tied to criminal and appellate practice.

His practice grew out of classroom study and courtroom hours. He handles a range of criminal matters and related constitutional questions. His work includes pretrial litigation, trial defense, and post-conviction proceedings when appropriate. The combination of trial experience and admission to appellate forums means he often evaluates cases for both immediate defense strategy and possible appellate issues later on.

Colleagues describe his courtroom approach as direct and disciplined. He tends to favor clear argumentation and careful record-building. In cases that touch on constitutional rights, he pays close attention to precedent and procedural posture. He prepares for hearings and trials with an eye toward preserving issues that might later warrant appellate review.

Outside the courtroom, White has participated in the professional life of Georgia’s defense bar. His time on the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers executive committee involved organizing events and contributing to the association’s efforts to support practitioners. He continues to engage with the legal community through ongoing memberships and professional activity.

He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense and constitutional matters.
