About Nicholas M
Nicholas M Graphia earned his law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2007. He completed his undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2002, taking a broad course of study that included political science, philosophy and sociology. Those years on campus shaped how he approaches legal questions: methodical, context-aware and attentive to competing viewpoints.
After law school Graphia took the steps necessary to practice in his home state. He is admitted to practice law in Louisiana and is authorized to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He maintains an office at 301 Main Street, Suite 2200, where he meets with clients and prepares filings for state and federal court matters.
His work spans matters that arise in both state and federal courts. He handles litigation-related tasks and appellate filings, preparing records, drafting briefs and arguing on appeal. He appears for clients in trial courts and, when matters proceed beyond trial, in appellate proceedings that require a different mix of written persuasion and oral argument.
Graphia’s undergraduate studies in political science, philosophy and sociology inform his written work and courtroom presentations. Those disciplines trained him to analyze statutes and precedents while considering broader institutional and social effects. At the Paul M. Hebert Law Center he built on that foundation, taking courses and participating in exercises that emphasize both case analysis and courtroom procedure.
Colleagues describe him as someone who focuses on clear, direct legal writing and careful preparation for hearings and trials. He organizes cases to isolate legal issues and to present them in a way that judges and opposing counsel can follow. That approach applies whether he is preparing a trial exhibit list or assembling an appellate record.
Outside of court, Graphia spends time on case strategy and client counseling. He meets with clients to explain legal options, to set expectations about timelines and to map potential outcomes. He also oversees the drafting of pleadings, motions and appellate briefs, ensuring that filings conform to court rules and appellate standards.
He concentrates his practice on litigation in Louisiana state courts and appellate matters in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
