About Nicholas John

Nicholas John Guarisco built his legal foundation in Louisiana classrooms and courtrooms. He earned a J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 2016 and completed Tulane’s Sports Law certificate. Before that he received a B.A. in Mass Communications from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, in 2012. His academic path combined study of law, media and the rules that shape organized sport.

After law school he spent a year on the bench as a research lawyer for the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal. In that role he assisted judges by drafting memoranda and undertaking legal research on appellate matters. The court position exposed him to appellate processes and sharpened his analytical habits early in his career.

In 2017 he moved into private practice, joining Porteous, Hainkel & Johnson as an associate. At the firm he worked on litigation matters and learned the practical side of preparing cases for court. That period rounded out his experience on both trial and appellate tracks and introduced him to the day-to-day work of client representation in state courts.

Guarisco’s training in sports law remains part of his professional profile. His undergraduate degree in mass communications informs how he approaches issues of publicity, messaging and regulatory frameworks in sporting contexts. He holds membership in the Louisiana State Bar Association and practices in Louisiana.

Today he is a principal at Richardson & Guarisco, L.L.C. There he applies his appellate experience, litigation practice and sports law background to client matters. His work balances courtroom procedure and regulatory questions, and it draws on a mix of legal research, drafting and advocacy. He maintains an active role in cases and matters across the state.

His current practice centers on civil litigation and sports law matters in Louisiana.
