Nicholas Donovan Heimlich is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2004. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Heimlich is the principal attorney at the Law Offices of Nicholas D. Heimlich, a law firm located in San Jose, California. He has been practicing law for over 21 years, serving clients throughout Santa Clara County and the surrounding Bay Area.
Mr. Heimlich earned his Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2004. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, San Diego, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 2001. During his time at UCSD, he was recognized with Provost honors, indicating his academic excellence.
Mr. Heimlich concentrates his practice in the areas of business law and general civil litigation. He represents businesses in matters involving corporate formation, contracts, trademark issues, and litigation. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. He has successfully obtained over $40 million for clients and has saved clients millions by successfully defending or suing on their behalf.
Throughout his career, Mr. Heimlich has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He has also appeared before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in San Jose for several years.
Mr. Heimlich is an active member of the California State Bar Association. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer from 2022 to 2026, an honor awarded to top-rated practicing attorneys through extensive evaluation. He is also involved in community service, having coached the Lynbrook High School Mock Trial team in San Jose from 2006 to 2010, leading them to become county champions and place third in the state tournament in 2010. Additionally, he served as a volunteer firefighter for the Forest Hill Fire Department from 2002 to 2003.
