About Nelson Antonio
Nelson Antonio Madrid earned his undergraduate degree in Legal Studies from the City University of New York’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1996. He stayed in the academic track for another decade and completed his J.D. at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2007. Those years shaped his approach to casework and given him a grounding in both theory and the demands of courtroom practice.
After law school he established a practice in New York. He built his client base steadily and took on a variety of matters that brought him into contact with federal and state agencies. Over time his professional associations began to reflect the types of cases he handled. He has maintained membership in the American Bar Association, and he joined the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 2009. He also holds membership in other professional organizations.
Colleagues describe him as persistent and methodical in preparing cases. He has experience handling applications before immigration authorities and arguing petitions in court. His background from John Jay, followed by the law degree, gave him both an understanding of legal procedure and a practical sense for case strategy. He combines that training with the networking and resources available through national bar and specialty organizations.
His practice is rooted in New York. He maintains offices in Manhattan and Peekskill, and he works with individuals and small businesses that require advice on immigration matters and related legal questions. The Manhattan office places him where federal immigration courts and many administrative agencies are accessible. The Peekskill location serves clients in Westchester County and nearby communities.
Outside the office, he engages with professional groups to stay current on developments in immigration law. Membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2009 has given him exposure to continuing legal education and peer exchange on evolving policy and case law. He also participates in broader bar activities through the American Bar Association.
He currently practices immigration law from offices in Manhattan and Peekskill.
