About Nathaniel James

Nathaniel James Hill studied law at the University of Kansas School of Law and built a practice that crosses state lines. He earned his degree there before returning west to pursue litigation and counseling work. He has steadily maintained credentials that allow him to take cases in multiple forums.

Hill is admitted to the bars of California and Arizona and is also authorized to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. That federal appellate admission gives him access to higher-level review in a wide geographic region that stretches along the West Coast and into the inland West. He has used those admissions to represent clients in contested matters that require both trial-level advocacy and appellate briefing.

His involvement in professional organizations includes active membership in the Arizona Employment Lawyers Association. He participates in the association’s programs and events, keeping current on developments in state and federal employment law. Colleagues describe him as steady in court and prepared at the negotiating table.

Hill’s practice has touched on workplace-related disputes and regulatory issues. He advises clients on rights and obligations that arise from employment relationships and handles litigation where informal resolution is not possible. He prepares pleadings, argues motions, and files appellate briefs when factual records or novel legal questions warrant further review.

Clients and opposing counsel see him as practical. He approaches cases by breaking complex problems into concrete steps. That includes assessing exposure, weighing settlement against trial risks, and identifying the key legal standards that will control outcomes. He draws on his cross-jurisdictional admissions when strategy calls for coordinated filings in more than one state or at the federal appellate level.

Outside the courtroom he follows legislative and judicial developments in California and Arizona closely. He often brings those developments into client conversations so decisions align with the latest caselaw and administrative guidance. He is based in the region and serves clients in both states.

He currently practices employment law in California and Arizona.
