About Nathan James

Nathan James Wagner combined a science undergraduate and a law degree before entering practice. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Rochester in 1997 and a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2002. The transition from chemistry lab to courtroom study left him equipped to approach complex factual problems with attention to technical detail and methodical analysis.

He has practiced law across several states. Admitted in California, Connecticut and New York, he has navigated the different procedural and substantive rules that govern cases in each jurisdiction. That multi-jurisdictional experience has meant adjusting arguments and filings to local expectations while keeping sight of the underlying legal work.

Wagner’s scientific training informs how he evaluates evidence and prepares matters. He often works on issues that present technical or regulatory questions, and he applies a step-by-step approach when untangling complicated records. Colleagues describe him as deliberate in preparation and direct in courtroom presentation. He favors clarity over complexity when explaining technical points to judges, juries or opposing counsel.

Outside of casework he maintains ties to organized bar groups. He is a current member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and of the California Bar Association. Those memberships have kept him engaged in local legal discussions and continuing legal education offerings. He has taken part in panels and seminars that address procedural updates and practical skills, and he attends professional events that address both state and regional practice concerns.

Over time Wagner has balanced practice across transactional and contested matters that touch on scientific or technical subject matter. He has managed cases that require careful coordination among experts, detailed document review and precise drafting. His approach emphasizes preparation, clear explanation of technical issues and steady management of time-sensitive tasks. He currently practices across California, Connecticut and New York and handles matters that frequently involve technical subject matter.
