About Nathan
Nathan Camuti earned his juris doctor from Chapman University Fowler School of Law in 2014 after completing a Bachelor of Science in physics at the University of California, Irvine in 2010. The combination of technical training and legal education shapes the way he approaches intellectual property matters. He brings an analytical mindset to complex technical issues and to the drafting and prosecution of patent applications.
Early in his career he pursued registration before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and secured a license to practice in California. Those credentials allowed him to work on patent matters that touch on engineering and physical sciences. He moved between roles that touched prosecution, counseling and client education, gaining practical familiarity with how inventors and companies protect innovations.
Camuti has taken an active role in the professional community. He served as president of the Orange County Intellectual Property Law Association and remains active in that organization. His involvement has included organizing local CLEs and participating in panels aimed at practitioners and in-house counsel. He is also a member of other bar and IP groups, where he frequently exchanges views on recent USPTO developments and strategy.
He founded Camuti Law Group APC to handle patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate assessments and related intellectual property counseling for clients ranging from individual inventors to businesses. The firm maintains offices including a location in Aliso Viejo. At the firm he oversees client matters, manages outside resources and works directly on patent drafting and response to office actions.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in approaching technical disclosure and careful in claim drafting. His physics background helps when consulting on technologies that rely on applied science. He is comfortable translating scientific concepts into patent language and in explaining those concepts to clients and examiners.
He publishes and speaks locally on subjects that affect patent practice and has participated in continuing legal education programs. In practice he combines patent prosecution work before the USPTO with counseling and strategic planning for IP portfolios. He continues to maintain an active practice through Camuti Law Group APC, handling patent prosecution and related intellectual property matters.
