About Natalie S.
Natalie S. Williams is an Indiana lawyer who opened her own practice in 2023 after nearly two decades of work in criminal justice and courtroom settings. She runs NSW Legal, LLC, and has held roles on both sides of the criminal system. Her path combines frontline public safety work, prosecutorial experience, and private criminal defense.
Williams began her academic journey in criminal justice at North Carolina Central University, earning a B.S. in Criminal Justice in 1999. She later returned to school at Valparaiso University, where she completed an M.A. in Psychology in 2015 and a J.D. in 2016. Those degrees informed a practical approach to cases and to client interactions.
Her earliest professional positions placed her inside law enforcement. In 2000 she worked as a dispatcher for the NCCU Police Department. The next year she became a probation and parole officer with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Those roles provided day-to-day exposure to supervision, compliance, and the realities of reentry.
After law school Williams moved into prosecutorial work. She served as a deputy prosecuting lawyer in LaPorte County in 2016. The following year she joined the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office as a deputy prosecutor. In those offices she handled criminal matters, worked on filings and court preparation, and gained courtroom time that would later inform her defense practice.
In 2022 Williams shifted to private practice as a criminal defense lawyer at Blankenship Law, LLC. The move marked a change in perspective but not in subject matter. She continued to handle criminal cases and to appear in court, now advocating for defendants rather than representing the state.
The next step came in 2023 when she established NSW Legal, LLC. As owner and lead lawyer she manages the firm and represents clients in criminal matters. She has maintained a professional membership since 2016 and is licensed to practice in Indiana.
Colleagues and clients describe her work as grounded in practical courtroom experience and an understanding of how different parts of the criminal system interact — from dispatch and supervision to prosecution and defense. Her background in psychology and criminal justice informs how she prepares cases and communicates with individuals involved in them.
She currently leads NSW Legal, LLC, where she represents clients in criminal matters and manages the firm’s daily operations.
