About Natalie Ann

Natalie Ann Sanders earned her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Denver. She studied courses that intersect law and public policy and left law school prepared for practice and teaching. Her academic background laid out a clear path into public-interest and veterans’ advocacy work.

After passing the Colorado bar and joining the Colorado State Bar in 2020, Sanders began building a practice that blends legal representation with organizational leadership. Her license in Colorado has been active since 2020. Early work included case intake and client counseling, then expanded into program development and operational oversight for nonprofit legal services aimed at veterans.

Sanders founded the Rocky Mountain Veterans Advocacy Project (RMVAP) and serves as its Director of Operations. She also holds a seat on the organization’s board. In that role she has overseen day-to-day operations, helped shape intake procedures, and coordinated pro bono partnerships. The project concentrates on legal problems that commonly affect veterans and their families, including benefits appeals, housing instability, and veteran-specific administrative matters.

Alongside her nonprofit work, Sanders has maintained a teaching role. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. In the classroom she draws on hands-on experience from RMVAP to present practical skills and case strategies. Students have encountered real-world examples of client interviewing, claim development, and ethical dilemmas tied to representing vulnerable populations.

Colleagues describe Sanders as exacting in case preparation and pragmatic in problem solving. She prefers clear lines of work and reproducible procedures in a nonprofit setting. Her practice has emphasized systems that allow small legal teams to extend their reach. That approach has shaped RMVAP’s intake and referral networks and guided collaborations with local bar groups and veteran service organizations.

Sanders remains based in Colorado and continues to lead the Rocky Mountain Veterans Advocacy Project while teaching part-time at the University of Denver. Her current work centers on supporting veterans through legal advocacy, operational management of a nonprofit clinic, and training law students in practical service delivery.
