About Naomi L.

Naomi L. Ellis built a career that moves from classrooms and research into courtrooms. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2003 from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, completing a double major in sociology and criminal justice. She went on to earn a Master of Arts in American history from Western Carolina University in 2006. Ellis later returned to legal studies and received her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2014.

Her early professional life included work outside the law as a project manager at Synergy Point Interactive in 2010. She entered the legal field as a law clerk in 2012 at Oxendine, Price & Associates, PLLC. After law school she joined Oxendine Barnes & Associates, PLLC as a lawyer in 2014 and then took a lawyer position at Maurer Law in 2015. Those roles gave her courtroom exposure and time drafting pleadings, conducting legal research and appearing in hearings. She has taken on responsibilities at different stages of litigation, from pretrial preparation to appellate filings.

Ellis is licensed to practice in North Carolina and holds admissions that allow her to appear in federal appellate courts, including the Fourth and Tenth Circuits. She maintains professional memberships in the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the North Carolina State Bar and the 18th Judicial District Bar Association. Those memberships have connected her with peers across practice areas and provided channels for continuing legal education and court practice updates.

In 2023 she opened Law Offices of Naomi Ellis, PLLC. As the firm’s owner and principal attorney she manages case intake, client counseling and litigation strategy. Her background combines public-facing project management and hands-on courtroom experience. She handles matters that proceed through trial court and, when needed, into federal appellate briefing and argument. She now runs her solo practice in North Carolina and represents clients in state and federal courts, handling litigation and appellate work as part of her current practice focus.
