About Nancy
Nancy Adkins earned her law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2004 after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, where she studied broadcast journalism and political science and received a B.S. in 1995. She moved from a communications background into law, carrying an early interest in public service into her legal training and early career choices.
Her first notable public-sector role came in 2008 when she served as a lawyer in the Child Support Enforcement unit of the Florida Office of the Attorney General. In that post she handled cases that required both courtroom appearances and administrative advocacy. The work exposed her to the procedural side of family law and to the practical challenges families face when support orders must be enforced.
In 2010 she established Nancy Adkins PA, A Family Law Office and took on the role of owner and president. She built the practice to serve clients across Broward and the surrounding counties. Over time the office has represented individuals in divorce, child support and custody matters, balancing negotiated settlements with contested litigation when cases required it.
Adkins has maintained an active presence in local legal organizations. She has been a member of the Florida Bar Association since 2007 and joined the Broward Bar Association in 2010. Since 2014 she has held memberships in the Broward Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the Florida Lawyers Network’s family law section. She also participates in the Broward County Legal Aid Veterans Pro Bono Project, signing on to provide volunteer legal services through that program.
Colleagues and clients describe a lawyer who combines courtroom experience with a background in communication. She draws on that experience when explaining complex legal issues to clients and when preparing for hearings. Her caseload typically includes contested and uncontested divorces, modifications of support and custody orders, paternity, and enforcement actions stemming from existing family court orders.
Adkins operates offices throughout South Florida, including locations at Sawgrass Corporate Park, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Coral Gables and Boca Raton. She continues to run Nancy Adkins PA, A Family Law Office and handles family law matters in Florida courts and administrative forums.
