About Ms. Ruchi
Ms. Ruchi Thaker has spent more than two decades in practice, building a career that moves between courtroom work and administrative proceedings. She represents clients in federal and state settings and maintains active membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2002. Her record shows steady progression from associate to firm partner and then to the founder of her own practice.
Thaker earned her B.A. in political science and Spanish from Rutgers University in 1995. She went on to Syracuse University College of Law, where she completed her Juris Doctor in 2002. Those academic years shaped her interest in litigation and public law, and laid the foundation for her later admissions to multiple appellate courts.
Her professional career began in 2002 as a senior associate at Bretz & Coven LLP. In that role she handled litigation matters and assisted on appeals, gaining experience in procedural and substantive issues that recur in federal practice. In 2007 she became a partner at Thaker Berowitz LLP, where she carried a broader caseload and took on client management responsibilities. That partnership period coincided with expanding appellate work and continued involvement in immigration-related cases through professional networks.
In 2012 Thaker opened the Law Office of Ruchi Thaker. She established the firm as a vehicle for handling appeals, administrative immigration matters and district court litigation. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and is also admitted to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Second, Third and Ninth U.S. Courts of Appeal. Those admissions allow her to pursue cases across jurisdictions and to file petitions and briefs at multiple appellate levels.
Outside of casework she has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association continuously since 2002, participating in the professional community that addresses regulatory and policy shifts. Colleagues describe her approach as pragmatic and detail-oriented in preparing briefs and court filings. She divides her time between appellate filings, administrative hearings and direct client representation. She now leads the Law Office of Ruchi Thaker, where her practice handles immigration and federal appellate matters.
