About Ms. Lee Patrice

Ms. Lee Patrice Dunham earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2000 after completing a B.A. in English and French at Washington & Lee University in 1996. Her academic background reflects an interest in language and analysis. She left law school equipped with the doctrinal training common to her class, and she entered a career that moved quickly between public service and private practice.

Her first courtroom-adjacent role came in 2003, when she served as a law clerk to the Virginia Beach Circuit Court. The position put her inside daily court operations. She handled research and drafted memoranda that supported judicial decision-making, gaining familiarity with trial procedures and local practice along the way.

In 2004 she joined Blue Ridge Legal Services as a lawyer. Blue Ridge Legal Services is a legal services organization that provides civil assistance in the region. At the organization she worked on matters typical for attorneys in nonprofit practice, representing clients who require legal aid and managing cases from intake through resolution. That work added client counseling and case-management experience to her resume.

By 2006 she was working as a lawyer at NLRG. There she continued to develop courtroom and advocacy skills. Her time at NLRG expanded her exposure to litigation, legal research, and the practical demands of serving clients across a range of matters.

Over the years Dunham has moved between the courthouse and client representation in private settings. She founded and now operates The Law Offices of Lee P. Dunham. In private practice she combines the procedural know-how acquired as a clerk with the front-line client work from her time in legal services and other firms. Her professional path reflects steady involvement in litigation and direct client representation rather than purely transactional work.

She is admitted to practice in Virginia and has maintained a practice that addresses the kinds of disputes and counseling people bring to a small firm. Her current practice emphasizes client counseling, courtroom representation in Virginia courts, and managing civil matters at every stage from intake to trial.
