About Mr. William A.
Mr. William A. Sand earned his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2012, where he completed coursework in criminal litigation. Prior to law school he studied business administration at Hamline University, receiving a B.A. in 2009. The combination of a business undergraduate degree and a law degree that emphasized courtroom practice has shaped how he approaches matters that reach trial or require procedural attention.
After graduating from law school, Sand served as a post-bar law clerk in 2012 at the USD Legal Clinics Education and Disability Clinic. That position placed him in a clinic setting early in his career. He worked on cases that intersected with education law and disability issues while refining practical skills in client interviews, motions practice and case preparation.
In 2013 he began practicing under the banner of Sand Law, LLC. He has maintained that office since then. Over the years he has built a multi-jurisdictional practice. He holds admission in several state bars and federal courts across the region. Those admissions include Minnesota, Texas, Arizona, North Dakota and Alaska, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the District of Minnesota and the District of North Dakota.
Sand maintains memberships in a number of bar and trial organizations. He belongs to the Minnesota Bar Association, the Ramsey County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Alaska, Arizona, North Dakota and Texas bar associations. On the plaintiff-side professional networks, he lists membership in the Minnesota Association For Justice, the American Association For Justice and the North Dakota Association for Justice. The memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with professional developments across multiple states.
Colleagues describe Sand as methodical in preparation and straightforward in court. He moved from a law-clinic environment into private practice early, and that transition shows in how he balances written advocacy and in-court work. He routinely appears in federal and state venues where he is admitted, and his practice has required coordination across differing procedural regimes.
Today Sand operates out of Sand Law, LLC. He accepts matters that align with his admissions and appears in the state and federal courts where he is licensed. He currently practices at Sand Law, LLC and accepts matters in the jurisdictions where he is admitted.
