About Mr. Rick Allen
Rick Allen Friedman built his legal foundation in the 1990s. He earned a B.A. in history from the College of William and Mary in 1993. He later pursued specialized coursework at Pepperdine University in negotiations and settlement advocacy in 1997. His legal studies continued at the University of Richmond in 1998 and culminated with a J.D. from Whittier Law School in 2000.
Early in his career he joined the Department of Dispute Resolution at the Supreme Court of Virginia in 1998. That role placed him inside the state's system for mediation and alternative dispute resolution. It gave him front-line experience in the mechanics of settlement and court-connected mediation before he moved into private practice.
In 2000 he began work at Paris, Blank & Brown, PC. There he handled matters that required court-level advocacy and case management. In 2004 he moved to Barnes & Diehl, P.C., where he expanded his trial and negotiation responsibilities. Those years in firm practice exposed him to a broad range of civil litigation and dispute-handling processes.
In 2010 he founded Friedman Law Office, P.C. The firm reflects his years in dispute resolution and litigation. He has taken cases in both state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and the Federal Circuit, which shapes the kinds of appeals and specialized federal matters he accepts.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and practical at the bargaining table. He has combined courtroom work with mediation practice, so his approach often balances litigation strategy and settlement options. He also draws on formal training in negotiations to structure talks and to advise clients on risk and timing. His background in the Supreme Court’s dispute resolution unit informs how he assesses the strength of settlement prospects at early stages of a case.
Today he operates Friedman Law Office, P.C., handling civil litigation, appellate matters, and alternative dispute resolution. He represents clients in state and federal forums and appears in matters that require both trial advocacy and negotiated resolution. He now practices at Friedman Law Office, P.C., where his practice centers on civil litigation and dispute resolution.
