About Mr. Paul D.
Mr. Paul D. Bain has spent more than three decades practicing law in Florida courts and federal forums. He works regularly on disputes and transactions that touch commercial property. His approach is direct. He combines courtroom experience with transactional work.
Bain's legal training began in Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Stetson University in 1990. He continued at the University of Florida Levin College of Law and received his J.D. in 1993. Those years set a foundation in real estate and land-use matters that has shaped his career.
Soon after law school he joined the firm that then carried his name among others: Gaylord Merlin Ludovici Diaz & Bain. Records show him listed there beginning in 1993. He handled a mix of commercial real estate work and litigation during that period. The job required balancing client counseling with courtroom preparation.
In 2011 Bain moved to Trenam Law as a lawyer and partner. At Trenam he expanded the mix of transactions and litigation he handles. He has taken cases into state and federal court, and he continues to advise owners, managers and operators of commercial property. Colleagues describe him as steady in contested matters and pragmatic in deal work.
He maintains admissions across a range of courts. Those include the Florida bar, the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Federal Claims. That spread makes it possible for him to litigate and to file appeals and claims in federal venues as well as in state court.
Bain has been active in trade and professional groups that reflect his client base. He has held membership in the International Council of Shopping Centers since 1999 and in the Florida Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association since 2005. He joined the Florida Self Storage Association in 2013. He also served as Vice-Chair of the Hillsborough County Bar Association's Eminent Domain Committee from 2003 to 2004, a role that involved case review and committee planning.
His practice blends transactional work, leasing and development counseling with litigation over land use, condemnation and contract disputes. He represents owners and operators in retail and storage sectors as well as businesses tied to petroleum marketing and convenience operations. He currently practices at Trenam Law, where his work centers on commercial real estate, land use, eminent domain and related litigation.
