About Mr. Michael J.
Mr. Michael J. Wise began his professional path in Sacramento after completing undergraduate studies at California State University, Sacramento and earning a J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He arrived in courtrooms prepared and ready to practice law in California. His education set the stage for a career centered on litigation and public service.
He entered public practice in the mid-1990s. In 1994 he worked as a deputy district lawyer in Contra Costa. By 1997 he was handling trial work at the Burger Plavan Law Office and serving as a deputy district lawyer in Sacramento County. Those early years placed him on both sides of the courtroom and gave him steady exposure to trial procedure and case development.
In 2005 he took on a leadership role at Wise Law Group, serving as trial lawyer and president. Over the years he has continued trying cases and overseeing the practice. He maintains current memberships in the American Bar Association, the Sacramento County Bar Association and the California State Bar. He was also named to the National Trial Lawyers Association Top 100 Trial Lawyers, a recognition listed from 2015 forward.
Colleagues and opposing counsel describe Mr. Wise as someone comfortable under pressure. He is experienced in courtroom work and in managing litigation from intake to resolution. He combines the habits of a public sector prosecutor and a private trial lawyer. That combination shapes how he evaluates cases and prepares witnesses, motions and trial strategy.
Today Mr. Wise leads Wise Law Group and continues an active trial practice in California. He remains involved in bar organizations and takes on cases that require courtroom experience and litigation management.
