Mr. McMahan's legal practice encompasses a diverse range of areas, including bankruptcy, business law, communications and internet law, as well as government and administrative law. In 1994, Mr. McMahan earned his Bachelor of Arts in News Communication from the University of Oklahoma. He furthered his education by obtaining his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1996. Following his graduation, he was admitted to the Oklahoma State Bar in 1997 and later to the Texas State Bar in 2002. His qualifications extend to several federal courts, including the U.S.
District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Oklahoma and Texas. Additionally, he is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. The U.S. Supreme Court. Since 1997, Mr. McMahan has dedicated a significant portion of his practice to representing Native American tribal governments and their affiliated business entities.

Furthermore, Mr. McMahan has worked on Indian child welfare matters, litigating at all levels of tribal, state, and federal courts.
