About Mr. Michael A.

Michael A. Harris took a circuitous route into law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from the University of Florida in 1996. He returned to Florida for a law degree, receiving his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University in 2003. Those formative years combined liberal arts and legal training, and they set the stage for a practice centered on immigration and nationality law.

After law school, Harris began building ties to the immigration bar. He joined the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 2006 and later became active in its South Florida Chapter. In 2015 he joined the chapter’s board of directors, a position he continues to hold. The memberships reflect years spent inside the professional networks that shape practice standards and policy discussions on migration.

In 2012 he became an immigration lawyer at HarrisLaw, P.A., where he has practiced since. Colleagues describe him as methodical and precise. He holds Board Certification as a Specialist in Immigration & Nationality Law from The Florida Bar, a credential that marks a defined level of experience and examination in that field. That certification is one of the constants in his professional profile.

Harris’s work combines casework and organizational participation. He takes on client matters at HarrisLaw, P.A., while also contributing to the South Florida AILA chapter’s governance. Over more than a decade in practice, he has built a caseload that reflects everyday immigration questions that clients bring to the firm. He has also remained engaged with continuing education and the exchanges that law practice requires, in part through his long-standing relationship with AILA at both the chapter and national levels.

Outside formal memberships, Harris’s practice is shaped by procedural complexity and shifting federal rules. He applies his classroom training and years of courtroom and administrative practice to the tools available to clients. The work can be technical and detail-driven. He handles filings, counsel sessions, and the strategic choices that come with immigration matters.

He maintains an office at HarrisLaw, P.A., where he continues to accept cases and advise clients. His current practice centers on immigration and nationality law, serving individuals, families, and employers seeking legal guidance on immigration matters.
