About Mr. J. Cole

Mr. J. Cole Brooks trained first as an accountant and then as a lawyer. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Auburn University in 1996. He returned to school for law and took his J.D. from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2003. Those two degrees set a practical tone for how he approaches legal problems.

His earliest legal experience included a position as a law clerk in 2005 with the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, where he worked in the Consumer Protection Division. That role put him inside government practice and exposed him to regulatory work and investigations. He handled research, drafted memoranda and supported consumer-protection enforcement efforts while still in the early stages of his legal career.

By 2007 Brooks had moved into private practice as an associate at Kubosh & Associates. That step shifted him from public-sector legal work to firm-side practice. Records show his association with the firm beginning in 2007; the firm appears in his current office listing. His path follows a familiar arc: accounting training, government service, then private practice.

Throughout his career Brooks has combined financial literacy and legal training. His undergraduate degree in accounting informs how he reviews financial documents and evaluates economic issues that arise in client matters. His time in the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division gave him direct experience with consumer statutes and enforcement processes. He draws on both backgrounds when analyzing disputes and advising clients.

Brooks practices in Texas and is identified with Kubosh & Associates as his office. He has worked on matters that intersect regulatory issues and business concerns, and he has experience in environments where detailed document review matters. He is known among colleagues for a methodical approach and for bringing an accountant’s attention to figures and records.

He currently practices in Texas at Kubosh & Associates, handling matters that draw on his consumer protection experience and accounting background.
