About Mr. David B.
Mr. David B. Purvis took a measured path into law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Georgia State University in 1997 and returned to the same university for his Juris Doctor, which he received in 2007. Those academic years laid a foundation in research and courtroom procedure that would shape a varied legal career.
He began practicing immediately after law school as a law clerk and then lawyer at Haskin Law Offices in 2007. The early cases there were practical and routine, the kind that teach courtroom rhythm and client management. In 2011 he joined Breakfield & Associates as a lawyer, broadening his trial experience. That same year he gained admission to practice before the Supreme Court of Georgia, the State of Georgia Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
By 2013 Purvis had taken on two new roles. He opened Purvis Lawyers, serving as owner and lawyer, and became a partner at The Manely Firm, PC. The dual moves indicate a mix of entrepreneurial drive and an interest in collaborative practice. He remains active in the Savannah legal community and holds membership in the Savannah Bar Association from 2013 onward.
Teaching entered his resume in 2014 when he served as an adjunct professor at Savannah Law School. Students recall a practical approach to instruction — lessons drawn from courtroom reality rather than theory. Three years later, in 2017, he accepted appointment as a Special Assistant Administrative Law Judge for the Office of State Administrative Hearings. That position added administrative adjudication to his courtroom background.
His professional memberships trace a steady engagement with state and local bar groups. He joined the Georgia Bar Association in 2010 and the Northeast Georgia Bar Association in 2011, where he was active until 2013 and participated in the Young Lawyers Division during that period. Training and professional development have been part of his pattern; in 2011 he attended the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ DUI Bootcamp and took part in the Gary Christy Memorial Trial Skills Clinic.
Across these roles Purvis has combined litigation, administrative hearing experience, and legal education. He practices in Georgia state and federal courts and has handled matters that require both trial work and administrative adjudication. He currently practices at The Manely Firm, PC, representing clients in Georgia courts and before administrative tribunals.
