About Mr. Daniel S.

Mr. Daniel S. Schleck began his professional life in the hard sciences. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, then turned to law and took a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology. That combination of technical training and legal education has shaped much of his career.

After law school he established himself in Minnesota, where he built a practice marrying environmental regulation and technical issues. He has handled matters that require an understanding of engineering concepts alongside statutory and regulatory frameworks. Colleagues describe him as someone who can translate complex technical material into the legal arguments and strategies his clients need.

Schleck has kept one foot in academia while working in private practice. Since 2012 he has taught environmental law as an adjunct professor at St. Thomas College of Law. His courses draw on real-world regulatory problems and give students exposure to practical compliance and permitting issues. He also took a leadership role within the profession as chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Law Section from 2013 to 2014, a post that involved organizing programming and forums for practitioners and regulators.

That blend of classroom and bar work feeds into how he approaches cases. His practice spans regulatory compliance, permitting, enforcement responses and related litigation. He often works on matters where scientific data, engineering reports and agency records are central. Clients have turned to him for help resolving disputes and for counsel through administrative processes.

Schleck’s office affiliations include Messerli | Kramer, where he continues to handle environmental and energy law matters in Minnesota. His background in chemical engineering remains a recurring asset in cases that require parsing technical reports or coordinating expert testimony. He balances litigation and advisory work, and he remains involved in professional programming and law school instruction.

He currently practices in Minnesota at Messerli | Kramer, handling environmental, natural resources and energy matters.
