About Morris E.
Morris E. Turek took a path to law that began in the study of language and learning. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and English from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1997. Five years later he completed a Juris Doctor at Saint Louis University School of Law in 2002. The shift in disciplines left him well prepared for work that often requires clear writing and a careful eye for detail.
After law school he entered private practice. In 2005 he worked as a lawyer at Heller & Associates, where he handled matters typical of a small firm environment. The role gave him experience in client counseling and the day-to-day mechanics of litigation and transactional work. He went on to start his own practice in 2009 under the name YourTrademarkLawyer.com, taking on the responsibilities of lawyer and owner and steering the firm’s work toward intellectual property matters.
Turek is licensed to practice in Missouri. Over time his work has centered on trademark law and related brand protection issues. He prepares and prosecutes federal trademark applications, conducts clearance searches, and advises clients on selection and use of marks. He also handles enforcement matters, including cease-and-desist correspondence and administrative proceedings that arise when brands collide. His practice serves businesses that need help establishing and protecting their marks, from startups to small companies managing growing portfolios.
Clients who come to him often need practical advice on how to move from a business idea to a registrable mark. He emphasizes the procedural steps involved in filing and maintaining registrations, and he helps draft the specimens and statements required by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. That paperwork is central to successful trademark prosecution. He also assists with monitoring and policing marks once they are in use, an area that can prevent disputes from escalating into litigation.
Turek’s background in education and English informs his approach to client communications and to the drafting work that a trademark practice demands. He communicates legal concepts in plain language and builds filings around clear, precise descriptions. He has carried that practical orientation through roles in both a firm setting and his own practice.
As of 2026 he continues to operate YourTrademarkLawyer.com and practices trademark law in Missouri. His current practice concentrates on trademark registration, portfolio management, and enforcement matters.
