About Morgan
Morgan Bourque completed an undergraduate degree at Baylor University before pursuing legal studies. She holds a B.S. from Baylor University (2003) and J.D. degrees from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University (2004) and South Texas College of Law (2007). Those academic stops gave her a foundation in legal doctrine and courtroom procedure.
She began gaining courtroom experience early. In 2004 she worked as a legal intern at Hocker, Morrow & Sterling. In 2006 she spent time as a legal intern in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and in 2007 she served as a legal intern with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas. A year later she took on a prosecutorial role as Chief Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery County. In 2010 she moved into private practice and has practiced under the name Morgan Bourque, Lawyer at Law.
Her professional path has included work on both sides of the criminal justice system. Years as a prosecutor gave her regular courtroom exposure. Her private practice work has covered criminal matters at the county level and appearances in federal matters when required. She is admitted to practice in Texas and in the Federal Circuit.
Bourque is an active member of several legal and community organizations. Her memberships include the American Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She is also involved in local groups such as The Woodlands Bar Association and, outside the law, the Gulf Coast Wakeboard Association.
Colleagues describe her as someone who draws on trial experience and prosecutorial background when preparing cases. She has handled investigations, court hearings and plea negotiations, and has taken cases to jury trial. Her time in public service informs her approach to case strategy and client counseling in private practice.
Today she maintains a private practice in Texas where she represents clients in criminal matters and related proceedings.
