About Mital Devendra
Mital Devendra Patel earned his law degree from The University of Mississippi School of Law in 2004 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology at the University of Mississippi in 2001. His academic years included clinic and practical work that prefaced a steady progression into private practice and courtroom work.
He began his legal career in 2006, working as a legal assistant for North Mississippi Rural Legal Services and as a legal intern at the United States District Lawyers Office. The next year he served as a guardian ad litem through the University of Mississippi Legal Clinic, an early role that exposed him to family law and client advocacy in court settings. Those experiences shaped his understanding of litigation, client counseling and case management.
By 2008 he moved into private practice as a partner at Hyman, Carter & Patel, PLLC and at General Knox Law. That period included courtroom appearances and the development of practice areas that would later define his own firm’s work. In 2020 he formed TriAmicus Law, PLLC and took on the role of founder and managing partner. He remains in that role and oversees the firm’s operations and case strategies.
Patel is admitted to practice in Mississippi and Tennessee. He is also admitted to multiple federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit, the Fifth Circuit and the Sixth Circuit. Those admissions reflect a practice that has both trial and appellate dimensions and the capacity to handle matters that reach higher courts.
He holds a Rule 31 listing as a family and civil mediator from the Tennessee Supreme Court. That certification complements his litigation work and gives him a formal role in mediated resolutions. His professional memberships include the American Bar Association since 2004, and memberships in the Knoxville Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Tennessee Bar Association, all since 2008.
The arc of his career moves from clinic work and public service to partnership and firm leadership. He handles immigration matters, represents clients in federal appellate proceedings and serves as a court-listed mediator in family and civil cases. He now leads TriAmicus Law, PLLC, where his practice centers on immigration, federal appellate work and Rule 31 mediations.
