About Mit

Mit Winter combines courtroom experience and industry work in sports and entertainment law. He earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2005 after completing undergraduate studies at The College of William & Mary in 2001. Those years set the groundwork for a practice that spans commercial litigation and matters arising in the sports and entertainment sectors.

He began his legal career as an associate at Bingham LLP. There he handled commercial matters and litigated business disputes. In 2011 he moved to the commercial litigation group at Posinelli PC and served as a shareholder. That role expanded his responsibilities on complex commercial cases and involved supervising litigation teams and managing client relationships.

Winter is admitted to practice in both Missouri and California. He has taken on contract disputes, business torts and other litigation commonly encountered by companies and individuals in media, sports and entertainment. Outside of courtroom work he has been active in local and regional professional organizations, serving as chair of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s Sports and Entertainment Law Committee and as a regional captain for the Sports Lawyers Association.

Those leadership roles involve organizing CLE programs, connecting practitioners and advising on issues that touch on both legal practice and the industries affected by it. Colleagues say he brings a practical attitude to committee work and to advising clients. He balances litigation posture with efforts to resolve disputes before trial when that serves a client’s priorities.

He currently practices at Kennyhertz Perry. His day-to-day work includes preparing litigation strategies, advising on licensing and contractual questions that arise in sports- and entertainment-related matters, and representing clients in state courts. He maintains ties to professional associations in Kansas City and the broader legal community.

Winter’s practice covers commercial litigation and sports and entertainment matters, and he continues to handle litigation, counseling and transactional issues for a mix of individual and corporate clients.
