About Misty D.

Misty D. Becker earned her J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2000 after beginning her studies in 1997. She completed her legal training at a time when family law was evolving in Tennessee courts, and she took that education into practice in the state where she remains active.

After law school Ms. Becker entered the Tennessee legal community and joined local and state bar organizations at the turn of the century. She has held membership in the Memphis Bar Association since 2000 and has been a member of the Tennessee Bar Association from 2000 to the present. Those affiliations have kept her connected to local developments in court practice and procedure.

Her work has centered on family law matters. She handles the kinds of disputes that bring families into court: divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, and property division. She also addresses issues that overlap family law, including protective orders and negotiated resolutions that avoid trial when possible. Her practice involves preparing pleadings, participating in hearings, and counseling clients on settlement options and the likely legal outcomes.

Colleagues and contacts in the Memphis bar have noted her steady involvement in local legal activities. She has used membership in bar organizations to stay current on changes in state statute and appellate decisions that affect family law practice. That engagement informs how she prepares cases and advises clients about procedural steps and timelines.

In the courtroom she balances advocacy and case management. She works on contested matters that require litigation and on negotiated settlements that require careful drafting to reflect the parties’ agreements. The work requires attention to evidentiary issues, parenting plans and financial disclosures. She has focused her daily practice on resolving family disputes while following Tennessee law and the local rules that shape family court practice.

Ms. Becker practices family law in Tennessee and is active in the Memphis legal community. She currently handles divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, and related domestic matters in her Tennessee practice.
