About Mike
Mike Rafi grew up curious about how law shapes everyday life. He studied at Furman University before earning his law degree at the University of Georgia School of Law. Early internships and courtroom exposure steered him toward trial work. He spent a summer clerking for the Tennessee Court of Appeals in 2009, an experience that reinforced an interest in appellate procedure and litigation strategy.
After law school he joined Troutman Sanders LLP as an associate in 2011. At a large firm he learned the mechanics of civil litigation and how to manage complex case files. By 2014 he was working as a personal injury trial lawyer at Law & Moran, where he began to concentrate on jury trials and plaintiff-side work. The next year he served of counsel at Butler|Tobin, continuing trial practice and handling higher-stakes injury matters.
In 2016 he opened Rafi Law Office. The move to a smaller, independent practice allowed him to control case selection and courtroom preparation. He continued to handle the kinds of serious injury cases he had seen earlier in his career. Over time his practice has combined individual client work with the demands of running a local firm.
Rafi has remained active in the legal community. He serves as Vice President of the DeKalb Bar Association and holds membership on boards for the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association’s Young Lawyers Division and the Atlanta Bar Association’s Solo/Small Firm Section. He is a member of the Lumpkin Inn of Court, where he participates as a barrister and pupil, and he belongs to the National Order of the Barristers. Those roles keep him connected to local judges and fellow trial lawyers and provide regular opportunities for continuing education.
In the courtroom Rafi is described by peers as a practical litigator who prepares cases for trial. He handles automobile collisions, premises liability, and other serious injury claims. He is comfortable in depositions and jury rooms, and he spends time coaching clients on what to expect during litigation and trial. His background includes appellate exposure, large-firm practice and years of plaintiff-side trial work.
He admits cases in Georgia and maintains an active practice in the state. Outside the office he participates in local bar activities and programs aimed at younger lawyers. He currently focuses his practice on representing individuals in personal injury and wrongful death matters.
