About Mike
Mike Allen trained first as a reader and thinker. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Latin from the University of California, Los Angeles, and later completed his Juris Doctor at Seattle University School of Law in 2009. Those academic years set the stage for a career that moved quickly from corporate legal support into courtroom and administrative work.
His early legal work began in the corporate world. In 2005 he worked as a paralegal in Legal & Corporate Affairs at Microsoft Corporation. That position preceded a pair of judicial and public-interest externships while he was in law school. He served as a judicial extern for the Washington State Supreme Court in 2008 and then as an extern for the ACLU of Washington in 2009.
After law school he entered private practice. He joined Dorsey & Whitney LLP as an associate in 2010 and later moved to MacDonald Hoague & Bayless in 2012. In 2014 he became principal lawyer at Advenienz Legal PLLC, a firm he leads today. His career shows a steady progression from staff and trainee roles into leadership and firm management.
Allen maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He has been part of the Washington State Bar since 2010 and is also a member of the King County Bar Association. He joined the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 2011. Outside professional groups he has taken on nonprofit board roles. He has served on the advisory board of the Seattle chapter of HOPE worldwide since 2013 and has been president of the board of directors of Wayfind since 2011.
Throughout his practice he works primarily on immigration matters. He advises individuals and organizations on immigration questions and represents clients before federal agencies and in administrative proceedings. His background in both public-interest externships and private-firm practice informs how he handles cases and client counseling. He balances litigation experience from larger firms with the more intimate client work typical of a smaller practice.
Colleagues describe Allen as methodical and clear in his legal writing, and clients regularly encounter the same straightforward approach when consulting with him. He runs the day-to-day operations at Advenienz Legal PLLC and remains active in bar and community organizations. He is licensed in Washington and continues to practice immigration law at Advenienz Legal PLLC in Washington.
