About Mickey
Mickey Williams entered law school after finishing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Oregon in 2010. He earned his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 2013. Those years set the stage for a career that has crossed military and civilian lines.
Williams began his legal work in the United States Army in 2013 as a prosecuting lawyer. He continued service in the Army and in 2015 served as a lawyer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He holds the JAG Corps Qualification and Certification, a credential that reflects his years in military legal service.
After leaving active military practice, Williams moved into private practice and partnership roles. In 2017 he became a managing partner at Gapasin, Capovilla & Williams, LLP. Two years later he joined Shewmaker & Shewmaker, LLC as a partner. In 2020 he took on the role of managing partner at Capovilla & Williams, where he remains listed as an office lead.
Williams is admitted across multiple jurisdictions. He holds membership in the Oregon State Bar since 2013 and is also licensed in Georgia and Tennessee. His admitted practice extends to all military courts. He maintains memberships in professional organizations that reflect both trial practice and veterans’ ties, including the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the National Trial Lawyers Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Legion and the Blue Ridge Bar Association.
Colleagues describe Williams’s path as one that blends courtroom experience with organizational leadership. His years as a military prosecutor and JAG attorney gave him routine exposure to trial work. In private practice he has overseen firm operations as well as case strategy. That combination has shaped how he approaches litigation and client representation.
Williams’s practice covers matters that arise in both civilian and military settings. He handles cases in state courts in the jurisdictions where he is licensed and appears in military tribunals as authorized by his JAG credentials. He continues to participate in bar and trial lawyer associations, maintaining ties to professional networks across several states.
He is currently active at Capovilla & Williams, where his work includes courtroom litigation and representation before military courts. His present practice focuses on litigation in state and military venues.
