About Michelle
Michelle Trigger earned her law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, receiving a J.D. in 2012 after concentrated study in criminal justice and advocacy. She arrived in law school intent on practicing criminal law. The course work and clinic placements there shaped her early courtroom experience.
She began her legal career in Sacramento. While in law school she interned with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office in 2010. The following year she took an internship with the Sacramento County Criminal Defense Panel, gaining exposure to defense strategies and client interviews. After graduation she joined the Law Office of John J. Casey III as an associate in 2012.
In 2013 she opened her own practice, founding Trigger Law Office. Since then she has managed the firm as owner and lawyer. Running a small office has required handling casework, client intake, courtroom appearances and the administrative duties that come with leading a practice. Her work has kept her primarily in California courts.
Trigger maintains professional connections through national and state groups. She has been a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association since 2013 and holds membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers from the same year. Those affiliations provide continuing legal education and peer contacts; they also reflect the professional circles in which she practices.
Her practice centers on criminal defense. She represents clients at various stages of criminal proceedings, including pretrial hearings, plea negotiations and trial preparation. She regularly handles matters in state court and prepares motions, evidentiary challenges and sentencing advocacy. The background in criminal justice and advocacy from McGeorge informs how she assesses cases and prepares for hearings.
Clients and colleagues describe her as pragmatic in the courtroom and attentive in pretrial work. She balances courtroom advocacy with case management tasks that come from operating a small firm. She continues to accept cases in California and directs Trigger Law Office’s day-to-day work.
She practices in California and focuses on criminal defense, trial representation and related courtroom advocacy.
