About Michelle M.
Michelle M. McLean earned her law degree from Michigan State University in 2002. She joined the State Bar of Michigan in 2007 and has remained an active member since. Early in her career she built a platform that mixed private practice with time spent in law firm settings. That combination shaped how she approaches cases and client work.
She launched Michelle M. McLean P.C. in 2008 and handled matters under her own firm name before taking an associate role at Kluczynski Girtz and Vogelzang in 2009. Two years later she moved into partnership at Bolhouse Baar & Hofstee PC. Each step added new responsibilities. Running a small practice required managing clients and the business side of law. The associate position and subsequent partnership exposed her to collaborative practice and firm governance.
Her professional affiliations are extensive and varied. She holds memberships in the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. She is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates and the Criminal Defense Lawyers of Michigan. She also belongs to the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan and the National Association of Professional Women. Locally, she has been involved with the Grand Rapids Bar Association, serving on its board as Community Outreach Coordinator for the Young Lawyers Section. She is a Notary Public in Kent County, Michigan. Earlier in her career she participated in the Inns of Court—E. Lansing Section during 2005–2006.
The mix of memberships points to interests across consumer and criminal law, and to engagement in professional and community activities. Her role on a local bar board included outreach responsibilities, and she has maintained connections to statewide and national organizations. That combination suggests a practitioner who balances courtroom work, client service, and organized bar involvement.
Colleagues and clients have seen her move from solo practice to firm partnership over a relatively short span of years. She has experience managing a practice, working as an associate, and shouldering partner-level duties. Those transitions give her a practical view of both client-side and firm-side pressures.
As of 2026 she maintains an active Michigan law license and continues to practice in Michigan. Her current work involves matters in consumer and criminal areas and ongoing participation in bar and community programs.
